Aspen turned one! We had a great little party for her and her friend, Porter at a local park. We had birthday hats and birthday cake and lots of friends. All a one-year-old could ask for!
We even got a surprise visit from Grandma and Grandpa Henry! They drove out from California to visit Penny on her big day.
There ended up being quite a few babies who came out to celebrate. We didn't get a good picture of all of the babies, but here are a few of them. Albie, Mya, Porter and of course, Aspen.
Here's a before [the cake] picture:
...and after [the cake]
Porter turned one two days after Aspen so it was a combined birthday party for both of them. Porter was definitely the life of the party. In fact, he got as many hats as he possibly could and walked around with them: one on his head, one in his mouth, and one in each hand. He was cracking everyone up who came!
She definitely enjoyed her party! Oh, and she enjoyed the cake too. She even knew exactly what to do with it.
At one year old:
- She takes a few steps on her own, but is definitely not confident with walking yet
- Knows that the cow says "mooooo"
- Can point out where her nose, ears, eyes, and toes are
- Loves to swim and knows her kickers, bubbles and splashing
- Likes listening to birdies singing outside in the morning
- Loves climbing up stairs
- Loves music: singing, dancing, and playing on her drums
- Sleeps through the night (pretty much always now!! yay!!)
- Eats anything and everything you put in front of her
- Likes trying to feed herself with spoons and forks

I love the 1 year old cake tradition! She is beyond darling. ahh!
